DP World Tour Confirms UAE Playoff Schedule Amid Middle East Tournament Disruptions
The DP World Tour will proceed with its season-ending playoffs in the United Arab Emirates next month, despite the recent postponement of the Asian Tour’s Saudi International and ongoing regional security concerns. Tour officials confirmed that the Abu Dhabi Aldar Championship and the DP World Tour Championship at Jumeirah Golf Estates remain on the calendar as the climax of the 2026 season.
What Tournaments Will the DP World Tour Host in the UAE?
The Abu Dhabi Aldar Championship will offer a $9,000,000 prize fund when it kicks off the back-to-back UAE swing on November 5 at Yas Links. One week later, the season concludes at the Greg Norman-designed Earth Course at Jumeirah Golf Estates in Dubai.
DP World Tour CEO Guy Kinnings confirmed that the physical preparations for both events are progressing well despite the broader regional climate.
"Work has started and we’re building stuff at Yas Links and at the Jumeirah Golf Estates, so our intention is to go ahead," Kinnings confirmed to SkySports.
Why the Asian Tour Postponed the PIF Saudi International
While the European circuit presses forward, the Asian Tour postponed the PIF Saudi International from its November 18-21 dates. The event, traditionally an offseason landing spot for LIV Golfers, was moved due to organizational and logistical challenges in Riyadh. This decision followed a strike on King Khalid International Airport in early October that disrupted regional transit.
A DP World Tour spokesperson addressed the safety concerns, telling Golfweek, "It is our intention to play the two playoff events as scheduled in the UAE next month, but we continue to monitor the situation and take advice from our international travel advisors". The tour noted that the HotelPlanner Tour successfully held an event in the UAE earlier in October, which provided additional confidence in their logistical planning.
How the LIV Golf Funding Shift Impacts Jon Rahm
The geopolitical shifts have also triggered major structural changes for LIV Golf. Following the initial regional strikes in February, the Saudi PIF adjusted its future plans and extinguished its funding for LIV Golf.
The trickle-down effect includes recent bankruptcy filings that call for Jon Rahm to be freed from his contract. With his obligations dissolved, Rahm’s first planned start in his post-LIV career will be back in the Middle East at the Abu Dhabi event in three weeks, signaling a rapid return to the DP World Tour for the former Masters champion.
What Golf Travelers Need to Know for the UAE Swing
For golf travelers planning to attend the UAE playoffs, logistics between the two host cities require careful planning. The Abu Dhabi and Dubai venues do not have a dedicated shuttle, meaning fans must rely on ride-hailing apps like Careem, Uber, or Bolt, or book a private taxi.
Estimated costs for a one-way private taxi range from AED 250 to AED 350, depending on traffic and the time of day. Fans traveling between the Yas Links course in Abu Dhabi and the Jumeirah Golf Estates in Dubai are encouraged to book flexible flight itineraries, utilize verified ride-hailing services, and consult current travel advisories before finalizing their trips to the Arabian Gulf.
The DP World Tour Championship will once again serve as the season finale for the top 50 players in the rankings, capping a 42-event schedule across 25 countries and testing the world’s best on one of the most demanding finishes in professional golf.
