PGA Tour: ISCO Championship Round 2 Recap
ISCO Championship Round 2 at Keene Trace Golf Club brought more low scores, leaderboard shakeups, and weekend drama as players jockeyed for position in this co-sanctioned PGA and DP World Tour event. With The Open just a week away, pressure is high — and so is the level of play.
Chan Kim Maintains Commanding Lead
After a sensational 61 in Round 1, Chan Kim stayed composed and followed it up with a 2-under 68 on Friday, moving to -11 and extending his lead to one stroke. While his second round didn’t match the fireworks of Thursday, it was steady and strategic — good enough to keep him atop a packed leaderboard in Nicholasville.
Chase Pack Emerges at -6
Three players sit five shots back at -6:
- Vince Whaley posted back-to-back 67s, showing consistency across both rounds.
- Kris Ventura fired a brilliant 64 after an even-par 70 on Day 1, climbing 51 spots.
- Thomas Rosenmueller slipped slightly with a 69, but his opening 65 kept him tied for second.
Strong Moves from Hoey, Kisner & Skinns
A group of players at -5 (T5) includes:
- Rico Hoey, Zac Blair, and David Skinns, who surged 63 spots with a 64.
- Kevin Kisner, Nick Hardy, and Callum Tarren also played solid second rounds to stay in the hunt.
With so many players within six shots of the lead, ISCO Championship Round 2 has clearly tightened the race and increased the pressure heading into Saturday’s Moving Day.
Cut Line Drama at +1
The cut fell at +1, and while many players advanced, several well-known names failed to make it through to the weekend:
- Kevin Roy bounced back with a 69, but his opening 78 proved too costly. He missed the cut at +7.
- Jason Dufner, after a solid 71 on Day 1, faltered with a 77 on Friday, finishing at +8.
- Nick Watney couldn’t generate momentum, posting 72–71 (+3) and also missed the cut.
Pre-Tournament Favorites Hanging On
Several pre-tournament contenders just did enough to make it into the weekend:
- Emiliano Grillo carded 67–72 (-1) to secure his place for the weekend at T27.
- Mark Hubbard posted 71–70 (+1) and made the cut right on the number.
- Peter Malnati opened with a brilliant 65, followed by a 71 (+1), and is well positioned at -4 (T13).
Notables Going the Wrong Way
- Greyson Sigg followed his opening 70 with a 72, missing the cut by one stroke.
- Cristobal Del Solar, after a 66 on Day 1, dropped out with a 75.
- Jackson Koivun (am) rallied with a 66 (-4) to sneak in at -1.
