🏆 PGA Championship Final Round Recap: Scheffler Seals It in Style
PGA Championship Final Round drama unfolded at Quail Hollow with World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler holding a three-shot lead at the start of the day. Eyes were also on Jon Rahm, who trailed by six. Inspired by Rory McIlroy’s Grand Slam triumph last month, Rahm was fired up to pursue the same honor for Spain. He already owns titles at the U.S. Open and the Masters, leaving only the PGA Championship and The Open to complete the slam.
As the round unfolded, Rahm made a charge. At one stage, both he and Scheffler were tied at 9-under. Rahm played flawlessly till the 11th hole, carding three birdies without a single bogey. Scheffler, meanwhile, stumbled on the front nine with three bogeys and just one birdie.
However, momentum quickly shifted. Scheffler birdied the par-5 10th to pull ahead again. Rahm stayed aggressive but couldn’t convert key birdie chances on the 14th and 15th holes. Despite solid approach shots, the putter failed to cooperate.
Then came the infamous Green Mile — and Rahm’s downfall. A bogey on 16 pushed him back. Things got worse as he found water off the tee on both 17 and 18. Two double bogeys followed, ending his hopes. He finished the day at 4-under, tied for eighth.
In contrast, Scheffler was calm and precise. He rolled in a confident 7-foot birdie on the 14th. On the 15th, he nearly chipped in for eagle but settled for another birdie. Though he bogeyed the 18th after a safe two-putt, the title was never in doubt. He finished at 11-under, five strokes clear of the field.
Bryson DeChambeau couldn’t build momentum. He managed four birdies but gave back three bogeys, ending at 6-under and tied for second.
Harris English delivered the round of the day with a brilliant 65. His seven birdies and a single bogey at the 252-yard par-3 6th helped him leap 34 places to finish in a tie for second alongside DeChambeau and Davis Riley.
Alex Noren, returning from injury, showed he still has the skill and patience to compete at the highest level. He finished tied for 17th at 3-under, a solid comeback performance.
In the end, it was a commanding victory. Scottie Scheffler, now a two-time major winner, lifted the Wanamaker Trophy with poise. He joins Jon Rahm with two career majors, and both players are now chasing golf’s rarest feat — the career Grand Slam. Only six men have achieved it in history. Will one of them become the seventh after McIlroy?
Time will tell. But one thing is clear — the PGA Championship Final Round belonged to Scottie Scheffler. For a complete list of scores and standings, check the official PGA Championship 2025 leaderboard.
