These are the rules every article on Golf Daily RoundUp is written to.
Sources
- Tournament news comes from official tour sites, leaderboards and results, and on-the-record statements.
- Rules questions are answered from the Rules of Golf as published by the R&A and USGA, and handicap questions from the World Handicap System.
- Every factual claim that is not common knowledge links to where it came from — the original source, not another outlet’s write-up of it, whenever the original is public.
- We do not publish rumours as fact. Reports that have not been confirmed are described as reports and attributed to whoever made them.
How AI is used
AI writing tools draft our articles from the sources above. We use them because they let a small team cover more of the game, and we set rules for them because they make particular kinds of mistakes:
- They may only use facts found in the sources they were given. They may not invent quotes, scores, statistics, people or test results.
- Automated checks run on every draft before publication: links must point to pages that were among the sources; link text that names a player, event or company must lead to a page about it; words in quotation marks must appear in the sources, or the quotation marks are removed.
- Featured images on news articles are AI-generated illustrations. We do not generate pictures that pretend to show a real event, a real player or a real product photo.
Gear guides and reviews
- We say a product was tested only when we actually used it, and we say how.
- When we have not used a product, the article says so and explains what our view is based on: the maker’s specifications, independent testing, and owners’ experience.
- Affiliate links never decide whether a product is included or where it ranks. Articles with affiliate links say so before the first link — see our Affiliate Disclosure.
Instruction
Tips and drills are based on the Rules of Golf and widely accepted coaching principles. They are general advice, not a lesson: a qualified PGA professional who can see your swing will always know more about it than an article can. If a tip involves pain or injury, see a medical professional.
Human review
Our editor, Shahid Anwer, reads and checks selected articles before they are published, and those articles carry a “Reviewed by” line. Articles without that line were published after the automated checks above. Every article, reviewed or not, is covered by our Corrections Policy.
Independence and conflicts of interest
- Advertisers, sponsors and affiliate partners do not see articles before publication and have no say in what we cover or how.
- Sponsored content, if we ever publish it, is labelled as sponsored at the top of the article.
- Our editor builds golf software (Live Golf Scoring and Golf Handicap Management). If an article mentions those products, or products they compete with, it says so.
Updates
When a story develops, we update the article and change its “last updated” date. Significant changes are noted at the end of the article.
